Pastor Don Butterfield

December 2004
I am so excited about what the Lord is doing here at Belton Assembly! This last month has been a celebration of 50 years of ministry, with former pastors Rev. Ray Thomas and Rev. Bill Baker preaching the Word and sharing in the fellowship. It was a time of reunion, as we were able to visit with several of our brothers and sisters who had attended here in previous years. I especially enjoyed spending time with Rev. Rusty Thomas, who I grew up with and went with to Bible college . It made me begin to think of what it was going to be like when we are all united in heaven someday. I can hardly wait for that glorious day when we will hear the trumpet of the Lord sound and be caught up with our Savior.

I do not believe we are going to be here on earth very much longer, but as long as we are, I cannot think of a better place to be ministering than right here at Belton Assembly, where we have so many good friends and a wonderful church. As we quickly approach the end of 2004, I am so thankful for what the Lord has been doing in our services and ministries. This has truly been a year of transformation, as the Lord has been molding us into the ministry center He wants us to be.

Our services have all been growing. We are right at the 400 mark in attendance on Sunday morning. We are excited about some of the new things that we are doing; like the addition of a covered patio at the youth annex, video announcements, a new curtain in the gym, a new format for our youth and college age Sunday school classes, and starting an Athletic Ministry under the leadership of Art Beasley, who will coordinate activities, such as basketball and volleyball in the winter, and baseball and soccer in the summer. We are also looking at ways to update our foyer by February.

As many of you are aware, Heart-n-Hand’s warehouse was robbed, and we lost over $9,000 in donated items, tools and outreach tools. We give God praise for making a way for us to recover some of the loss through insurance coverage and donations of furniture, appliances, and cars from individuals. We are up and going again. If you have an automobile (running or not), and you would like to donate it to help raise money for the needy in our community, contact the office for more details.
